We know that there are a lot of cookie cutter plans out there available from a variety of websites. These training plans can be great starting points, however, they are not catered to the individual.

At The Motivated Runner LLC we take into account your schedule, history, goals, past injuries, and preferences before hand-crafting a plan for you. Our plans are based on principles from Jack Daniels, Arthur Lydiard, Danny Abshire, Hal Higdon, and our own personal experience over the course of 13 years.

No two plans will ever be alike and we will also be checking up on you occasionally to see how things are going. Each plan comes with an email Q&A session to clear up any questions you may have. We want to make sure you know exactly what to do with your plan and how to execute it so you can achieve your goals!

Online Coaching

Online Coaching is perfect for those who don’t live in the Southern California area. This option provides athletes with all the perks of Local Coaching, just without the in-person visits. Athletes will still receive a highly customized and tailor made training plan that plays to their strengths, history, schedule, goals, and motivation.

Online Coaching plans provide athletes unlimited contact with the coach via Text/Email and occasional contact via Phone/FaceTime/Skype. Other coaching companies limit the ways and number of times athletes are allowed to contact the coach. The way we see it, life changes each and everyday as does your status as a runner. We want to make sure our tailor made plan is still fitting your status. We make changes on the go for life circumstances, injuries, and anything else that may get in the way. It’s just one more way we are improving our service to you. We also make sure that you are always motivated and know how to get you in the right mindset to become the best runner you can be. We’ll be sending you little videos, quotes, songs, and other motivational bits along the way to put a smile on your face and bolster your determination.

FAQs

1) What’s the difference between Local SoCal Coaching, Online Coaching, and Training Plans? 

The difference between the various options is communication and interaction. For Local Coaching, athletes have unlimited contact with their coach via text/email, occasional phone/FaceTime/Skype, and also get to meet with the coach in person for training sessions and meet ups. For Online Coaching, athletes have unlimited contact via text/email and ocassional phone/FaceTime/Skype. For Training Plans, there is an initial interaction with the coach to answer any questions about the plan and then athletes are on their own. If they find themselves in a position where they need more help, they can always upgrade to the Online or Local Coaching options.

2) I’m a slow runner/have just started, can you coach me? 

Of Course! We would love to have you join The Motivated Runner Family and coach you towards your dreams and goals no matter what they are. All we ask is for you to come with a great attitude and communicate well with us. We take on all types of runners, all shapes and sizes.

3) How long until I receive my training plan?

Once we receive all your forms, documentation, and payment, it takes approximately 1 week for us to hand craft and tailor a program to your strengths, schedule, history, and goals.

4) Do you offer triathlon coaching?

In the formal sense of triathlon coaching, we do not as of yet. We are gaining experience in the field but would like to learn more before venturing out to coaching triathletes. However, we would be more than happy to help you with the running portion of your program and can provide some insight into how running affects your training in the other two disciplines of the sport.

5) What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept PayPal, Cash, and Checks (however, plans are not released until checks clear).

6) What if I want to cancel my coaching?

We understand that life can be unpredictable and things such as injury, job loss, family matters, and others can come up that require your coaching to be cancelled. We can refund you for the months that you have paid for in advance if you are on either the Local or Online Coaching Programs. However, Training Programs cannot be refunded since all of our work is the hours that goes into making it specifically for you. We suggest that you use the plan once you return to training and your pre-injury level of fitness.

7) What if I want to upgrade from a Training Plan to Local or Online Coaching?

Just send us an email and we would be more than happy to make it happen!

Local SoCal Coaching

Local, in-person coaching is the bread and butter of The Motivated Runner LLC. This option provides athletes with everything we have to offer as we join you in your journey towards a new PR and achieving your running goals. We know that you are unique and love that about you! That’s why we want to become a part of your daily running routine and help you to succeed.

In person coaching plans provide athletes unlimited contact with the coach via Text/Email and occasional contact via Phone/FaceTime/Skype. Other coaching companies limit the ways and number of times athletes are allowed to contact the coach. The way we see it, life changes each and everyday as does your status as a runner. We want to make sure our tailor made plan is still fitting your status. We make changes on the go for life circumstances, injuries, and anything else that may get in the way. Athlete & Coach Responsibilities

In the unique relationship between coach and athlete, responsibilities exist for both.

Athletes of The Motivated Runner LLC will be responsible for:

  1. Great Communication – The body is constantly changing everyday and the coach needs to be able to respond to these changes. Athletes are expected to communicate to their coach how they are feeling, how the workouts are going, and if there are scheduling conflicts. Each plan is a calculated and well thought out  so the coach needs to be aware of any changes. Communication is unlimited and your coach is there for you, use it.

  2. Honesty –  The coaching experience only works when athletes are honest about what is going on. If a workout needs to be skipped every once in a while, the coach needs to know. When an athlete is not honest about how things are going, it only ends up hurting them in the end.

  3. Good Attitude – Athletes should maintain a good attitude during training. The mind is far more powerful than any of us realize and when set straight, anything is possible.

Coaches of The Motivated Runner LLC will be responsible for:

  1. Attentive Care – Coaches will be expected to communicate with their athletes on a near daily basis. It is important to respond to questions the athlete may have and cater to their needs. Athletes should always be made to feel important and know that their dreams and pursuits are always at the forefront.

  2. Teaching –  Coaches will not only provide training plans for athletes, but will also help the athlete to understand the goals behind each workout. Each workout has a purpose and it is imperative that the athlete knows what this purpose is. Coaches will seek to educate runners on the sport of running and pass off any and all knowledge they have to their athletes.

  3. Dedication/Passion – Coaches should always have an absolute dedication and passion for the sport of running. Coaches will always seek to be students of the sport, forever seeking new knowledge and training techniques.
